The Dodec Fountain Pen | $3.99 I was wandering my local Hobby Lobby location around the holidays and saw this fountain pen for $3.99. I chose blue from a handful of color choices (pink, green) and gave it a shot. This little pen is made of a (cheap) plastic body, steel nib and comes with 2 ink cartridges. It has a clear, plastic cap too.
It's....meh. I couldn't get it to write consistently. I even took the nib and feed out, cleaned it up, changed cartridges and still, ink bled and skipped and sputtered.
What I found interesting was its reference to a 'Butterfly' nib which I hadn't seen before. It seemed identical to the types of nibs found in other fountain pens priced 'disposable.'
Hands down, I would choose the Pilot Varsity over this pen any day.
Don't waste your money.
Here's a link to another post that will tell you about the Pilot Varsity Disposable Fountain Pen, the BIC Disposable Fountain Pen, and an $8 Pilot Plumix I'm classifying as disposable, too. Read about Disposable Fountain Pens here.
